Winchester pad...?
Where can I find an original style pre-64 recoil pad? I know I've seen repros someplace, but can't remember where, and Google drives me insane.

Thanks,

Pettson

They're pretty, but I wonder if they really work very well. I'd like to use one for a pre 64 project I'm working on, but I'd like to know more about them first.

I've never seen the insides of a Winchester pad, but the mounted ones on rifles I've handled have all seemed very hard--sort of like Silvers solid rubber pads. Maybe that's because they were all 50 years old.

Can anyone tell me how they are constructed and whether they do a decent job of actually reducing recoil?

The reproductions, like the originals are solid and pretty hard compared to most of the modern pads.
