Action Weights
I'm considering a new project and have looked into the Montana 1999 for an action. I understand they are heavier than a M700 or M70. Can anybody provide the difference in weights between these three actions? Long or short, as long as the comparision is the same size. I'm looking for the relative difference between them. Thanks!

According to Montana’s web site their actions are 44oz and 40oz.

Remington 700’s are 43oz and 40oz, and I believe the Winchesters are about 48oz.

Just out of curiosity, how much does a M98 weigh? Anybody?

My data shows the 700 weights at 38oz and 35oz and the model 70 at 44oz.

I just weighed 2 mauser actions.

98 mauser standard action = 44 oz.

98 Turk (large ring w/ small ring barrel=46oz.

P14 Enfield= a whopping 53 oz.
