Anyone have any recent dealings with them ?

One year ago; no problems; realize that they are pantographed and you need to do the final inletting. I would not want it any other way. I always got much better figured wood than what I paid for.
I started with them in 1970 and have bought many from them since. Never had an issue.

They do make a good product. I did a lot of business with Bishop's back in the day as well. They aren't around anymore. Glad to hear that Richards is still in business.

And they charge less for the whole stock than a custom shop charges for duplicating alone. I suspect they have a multiple spindle machine and make 20 at once.

I have probably bought 10 to 12 stocks over the years and have never had a major problem. Couple of times I have used Acr Glas Gel and Walnut saw dust to fill back where too much was taken off. Figure has most of the time been better than I ordered. Some have reported problems but I think for the most part you get some good stocks from them. I'll use them again.

Thanks for the input. Been at least 10-12yrs since I've used one of their stocks. Sounds like things are pretty much the same nowdays.

Steve, I'm a firm believer in Acra glas from Brownell's. I used it exclusively for my glass bedding projects but as you say it has a lot of other uses as well. I even used it one time to repair the temple piece on my glasses.

A very nice custom'03 Springfield sporter chambered in 300 Apex. Some nice touches, sporter barrel, Jaeger Trigger, Sako hinged bottom metal. And a very nice stock as well. I think it might have been done by the Apex Rifle Company back in the day when they were in Sun Valley, CA.

Problem is, it must have been done for a very small person. Length of pull is only 12 1/4". Way too short for me.

I have built several rifles using RM stocks.

I have always recut all cuts possible on the mill to minimize sanding and assure forearm and buttstock alignment.

I've also ordered them "flat top" so I can cut he barrel channel and action inletting myself. This also lowers the price.

As noted above walnut wood grain has always exceeded expectations.

Although rough as received the stocks have always been a bargain considering the grading.

I don't think you need a photo permission on this site.
If you have your photos stored on a photo storage site you can transfer them to here quite easily by using the image box which is the third box from the right just above where you are typing your message.

Go to your storage site, click on your photo and then click on the share button to get the URL (I think its called). Copy that and then insert it in the image box at the end of your message. Pretty simple really. If you don't get it send me your phone number in private messaging and I will call you and talk you through it. But first make sure you have your photos stored on a site. Everyone use to use Photobucket until they started charging money.
I now use Postimages.org, which seems to work pretty well.

Or..get an 8 yr old to do it for you

Yes, AR members can be dicks; but as for the pictures; you aren't doing anything wrong; this site does not host pictures within itself, so you can't post them unless they are already hosted by another site whose business is, hosting pictures.
Everyone used to use Photobucket but they started charging a lot of money for it, now most use Imager or something like that; I never got around to finding another photo host site.

I think you have misinterpreted the last few posts. In fact I know you have. Duane and Ole Miss guy were just making a joke that it seems like 8 year old kids know more about computer stuff than older folks do. In no way were they trying to make fun of you or criticize you.

And, if you hang around these firearms related sites long enough you are going to either read stuff you don't like, or you are going to have people say something about you that you don't like. Happens to me all of the time. Best advice is to let it pass. Tomorrow is a new day. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge on these boards, and a tremendous group of people on these boards. Most mean well, and many who you think don't mean well actually do but you are misinterpreting what they mean.

In order to post photos on this site you have to store them somewhere in a photo storage site.
That's the bottom line for this site. Again, if you need help I will help you.

Very true. I'm 60 and I'm very certain my grandchildren can manipulate electronic devices better than I can.
