markusSoft rubber rifle grips
Can soft rubber grips be put onto a rifle stock in place of wood checkering with much success?
I have a grey LSS remington that I think would look real sharp with black rubber grips in place of the checkering that is on it, plus it would be comfortable too. Can it be done so that they will not peel out after a little wear and tear?

dan belisleA little routing and glue would probably set you up, Markus. I'm not sure they would last that long though. - Dan

Alberta CanuckI've never seen one, so this is as much a question as an answer, but here goes
Does Hogue make one of their over-moulded stocks for your rifle? If so, that might be worth looking into. From what I can gather, they are covered all over with soft rubber. (I presume that does NOT include inside the stock...)

dan belisleHogue does list the Rem 700 as one of the guns they make this style of stock for. I believe they have an aluminum bedding block. But like AC, I've never held one to examine. - Dan

markusI do not know. I havn't heard of hogue before but I will do a search on it and see wha i can find. I do like my LSS stock though. And I think it would make for a nice contrast the black and grey colouring but really its about hunting not the looks.
If I can find some nice rubber I will give it a shot on one of my other rifles and see how it holds up. I am sure I can find a glue that will hold it in there well enough. It might take me a couple tries though.
Thanks
Mark
