Trigger for Vanguard? Which is best?
The only aftermarket triggers I can find for my Weatherby Vanguard are Jard, Timney, and Rifle Basics. Which one of these is the best in your opinion? I can't find where Jewel makes one for the Vanguard does anyone know better? Thanks and God Bless, Louis

Timneys are great. Their new factory is all CNC stuff and really state of the art. I'd try a Timmney in a heartbeat.

Timney hands down. That's what I have on my .243 Howa 1500.

I am also a fan of Timney triggers although I haven't used one on a Vanguard. Of the three names you mentioned, that's what I would go with.

My 1987 vintage Vanguard has an adjustable trigger and I was able to get a very crisp 3 pound pull with no appreciable creep. Not sure if the newer rifles have the same trigger but it might be worth a try unless you just want the experience of replacing a trigger.

I put a timney trigger in my then 30-06 vanguard. I had to do a little filing to get the safety to operate correctly...just had to remove a little bit from the synthetic stock interior...

Works great.

Good luck.

And there we have it, Timney hands down. Of course I'm not biased since they are a local company Roll Eyes Big Grin.

I've been buying both Timney's and Rifle Basix triggers, and just put a Rifle Basix in my Weatherby Vanguard that is excellent. You can't go wrong with either.

I put the timney and only neended a small adjustment for the lever space, since it is a three stage trigger instead of two as the original.

I just put a Timney in a VZ24 and couldn't be happier. My son's Vanguard is destined for one now.....and maybe my Ruger's too!

Yup,

Timney, definately. I had one put in my wood stocked vanguard, had to relieve the stock a little bit on the wood stock also. No big deal. GREAT trigger. Shoots like a different gun.
