Remington 760 short action mag interchangeability
I need magazine for an early (1957) 760 in 257 Rbts, but don't necessarily care if it's the correctly marked one, just that it's a steel 760 (not plastic & steel 7600) mag.

Will the other short action magazines work? 243/6mm/308/7mm08, etc?

Does anyone have one they want to sell?

Thanks. WSJones

The older style short mags will work.

You may see problems if you try to use a newer 7600 mag but the thing will likely work, just being a littel sticky going in and out.

Thanks, that's what I was hooping. I tried a 7600 mag and could not get it to work at all.

The rifle's a 1957 257 Rbts that was supposed to have the orignal magazine but ended up having none, so the 7600 was tried. Even if it would have worked I would need a 760 steel magazine, 257 marked or not, to make it so I can sleep nights Smiler Chances of finding a 257 marked mag are slim, but one for a 760 that functions will at least let me use it.

Thanks to Ghostrider272 for letting me have 2 pristine 760 magazines in 308 cal. for not much $$$. The magazines were even nicer than described and arrived within a couple days.

Will have to wait until tomorrow to check function and will report then. However, based on posts here I'm confident they'll function. I'll post an update after I try them in the rifle.

Thanks all. -WSJ
