I purchased a Haenel M88 in 8x57I about a year ago. The double set trigger is so light that a hard closing of the bolt will make it drop. I have tried to adjust it however, I still deem it unsafe.

Who is the best 'Smith to work on this? I have a complete original trigger for the sear if needed.

You might try the folks at New England Custom Gun Service ( http://www.newenglandcustomgun.com/ ), they have quite a bit of experience with double set triggers.

The saga continues.

For all the responses I received via PM and here, thanks. I discovered just how few smiths in the country deal with these triggers. After a few emails back and forth I decided that while all time is valuable, I was not interested in paying nearly half the cost of the rifle to have the problem "diagnosed."

While I said I did not feel particularly qualified to work on this trigger I have worked on many others, Remington, Winchester and several types of after market brands. It was time to learn another one.

I pulled it apart for the ??? time and while sitting at my bench quite frustrated I took a good look at the trigger return spring. It appeared to have a rough end on one of the coils. I pulled out an original Commission 88 trigger return spring and sure enough mine was three coils shorter.

Dropped in the original spring and suddenly the triggers are functioning perfectly.

As I have said before, never to old to learn.
