Iron Sights ?
I want to install three leaf express sights on my 375, Z Hat Customs installs and then file them for the cartridge and bullet weight so it will be on at 100,200 and 300 yards. It is pretty exspensive to have them file them for you, my question have you ever filed a set of sights ? I understand being on center would be important could a fellow figure this out and do it himself ? Thanks Bill

sure you can. All it takes is time, a lot of time & patience.

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

I have cut one or two sets of sights. If you are somewhat talented it is possible to do it yourself. There is no magic involved but there is a little math. And if you make a mistake you will be replacing a sight. How much do they charge to regulate the sights??

Bill.
I would not be afraid to do it yourself. You will be out the same amount of ammo and IF you make a mistake you can replace the sight. You will also gain from the experience. Or possibly lose a lot of hair!!! To start you need to measure your front sight height. From the centerline of the bore to the center of the sight bead. This number PLUS about .030 becomes your starting rear sight notch depth. At this point you should be shooting about 6 to 8 inches high at 100yds. I would start shooting at about 25 yards and work your way out to 100. Filing the sight notch to lower the P.O.I. as you go. The second blade should start about .050 higher than the finished depth of the first. Fire it at 100yds and work your way out from there. Remember that it does not take a lot of filing to make a huge differance in P.O.I. If I have had a blonde moment in my description of this process someone please correct me! Or if you can better describe the process.
