Dimensions of 1909 Argentine action.
I apologise for bringing up this subject again as I started a thread about it awhile back but now I have a more detailed plan of what I am doing but need some clarification before I move farther on the project.

i am building a 375 H&H on a Mauser action. The problem is whether to buy a 1909 Argentine action or to use the VZ-24 or FN commercial I have on hand. But I am concerned about the dimensions of the receiver ring, side rail, etc... being the same as the 1909. I recently aquired a very nice quarter rib 375 H&H barrel and EAW swing mounts for a 1909 Argentine. What I am wondering is if the receiver dimensions of the the VZ-24 and FN commercial actions are the same as the 1909 or would I be better off to purchase a 1909 to build my rifle on. It just wouldnt look right if the quarter rib heighth didnt match the receiver ring diameter. Or if the EAW mounts wouldnt fit on a VZ-24 or FN action.

I know that if I use the 19090 everything will work, but will they still fit properly on my actions I have already or do I need to buy a 1909 action?

Your input here would be a big help. Especially from you gun builders who have experience in this area.

Thanks.

M1Tanker,

They are the same. The VZ-24 and the FN are all 98 Mausers.

If you turn the actions upside down & look at the underside you will see a distinct difference in the feed angles under the feed rails. The 1909 is taylered expressly for the 7.65 Argentine round that has more body taper that an 8mm case does. Also the feed rails are a bit more narrow too. Hope this helps.

Johan! Whatz is mean when you start counting Mausers in your sleep instead of sheep?

I advice you to get a magnum mauser for the 375 H&H since the work on opening the action and makeing all the adjutsment and modifications is time consuming.

If you want to use a standard size action look at the 9,3X64, 9,3X62 or 358 Norma mag. or the wildcat 375-338win
