chainRe-barrel my mauser
I have a mauser action with a heavy .243 barrel on it. When I got it I thought it would be a good coyote gun. I however don't ever use it. I would like torebarrel it to a 7-08, 260 or maybe a 280. Is this any smarter than just buying another rifle? Is there anyone out there who wants the job?

HarrisIf you stick with the .260 or 7-08 then all you have to do is rebore the barrel. Since it is a heavy barrel like you said then it will have enough meat left even after the reboring.
Something to think about.

The only thing wrong with reboring nowadays is that good barrels can be had NEW for about the same money!

I suspect that heavy barrel is why he never uses it?

chainCorrect the heavy barrel is the part I don't like. I thought it would be fine for paper or being in a stationary position for coyotes.
