NaphtaliRender Mark III Target into single shot?
I want to be able to single load my Mark III Target pistol by removing its magazine, inserting one round into its chamber, releasing the bolt, then aiming and firing.
Presently, I cannot do this because trigger-sear mechanism is disconnected when magazine is removed.
1. Can ONLY the magazine disconnect mechanism be disabled?
2. If it can, is this something I can do?
3. If it can and I cannot do it, please recommend a gunsmith who can do it.

WestpacFWIW, it's not a good idea for working gunsmiths to be disabling factory safeties. You are free to do it yourself though. They are easy to disable. You need to remove the safety/lever and spring from the hammer pin and replace them with a spacer.

ramrod340Just wondering out loud. Could you take a magazine and alter the top so it didn't lock the bolt back but would allow the trigger to function?
As usual just my $.02

If you don't want the bolt to lock back on the last round, just give it a little time.

The trigger doesn't rely on the bolt lock in order to function. The magazine follower lifts the bolt lock in place.

NaphtaliI hadn't considered futzing with the magazine. I don't know whether you folks have my solution for me, but I will try them as quickly as I can.
Thanks for using your imaginations.

What more of a solution do you want? You were given basic directions on how to disable your magazine safety, which is what you wanted.

NaphtaliI thank all of you for your assistance. Until this afternoon I was unaware that Ruger offered (no longer offers) a replacement hammer bushing that allows deletion of the magazine disconnector. After its installation, to achieve my desired result, all I'll need to do is chamber a cartridge from the magazine, then release the magazine. One round fired with no harm to the extractor and no automatic reload.

WestpacIf you make your own little spacer, you can forget the magazine and drop the round directly into the chamber and go.
