Douglas Barrels.

Would like to know if anyone out there has any experience/comments on Douglas barrels. Especially their premium air gage, stainless steel barrels. How easy do they break-in? How's the quality, accuracy, etc.

We have used a number of these, and they are extremely accurate.

I would gradly recommend them.

I have used a couple of Douglass on my personal rifles. They both shoot 1 MOA. They are not hand-lapped like the absolute top of the line barrels. That is basically the only difference from the top tier. This usually means a 50 round break in period.

I put the quality as Krieger, Obermeyer, then (Shilen, Hart, Pac-Nor, Lilja), Douglass in that order of the barrels I've used or been intimately acquainted with.

My apologies to Bill T, Cutrifle, Badger and others. I really like cut-rifled barrels, but have not used theirs, or tested one.

I have an M1A with a Douglass that still shoots MOA after two years (3000 rounds) of NRA competition. I would replace it with another Douglass, as the action and (my old eyes with) the iron sights limit the accuracy to 1 MOA.

The air-gaged Douglas is held to the same standards as the Shilen Select Match for uniformity & end-to-end.

I have a Douglas #4 barrel on a M700 in 7mm-08 that will shoot in the .3"-.4" range consistently, and has shot a .259".

One of the top service rifle shooters in the country told me about Douglas barrels,"don't look down them with a strong light or borescope, just clean'em and shoot'em!" This guy shoots in the 790's with a service rifle!
