Will a new CRF Win M70 barrel fit a Pre64 action without work?

Greetings AR Colleagues,

Will a recent (1990's)manufactured Winchester Model 70 CRF barrel fit an older Pre 64 Win Model 70 action without major work? Thread spacing the same etc...can the barrel be just screwed on and headspace set?

I don't think so, odds are the extractor cut in the breech end won't line up. Also, the headspace will probably not be correct. Other than that, the threads should work OK>

I've done it. Threads okay. Extractor cut don't line up and headspace was off. Since I was reloading, I headspaced the belted case off of the shoulder for my own testing, then took it off.
