Re: What are my choices if I want an action with
Dutch, did you ever get to handle and possibly shoot a Steyr SBS?
What did you think of the rifle? I have only handled them but have
not shot one. Would appreciate your feedback.
I never did get to even see one, yet. Might just go with the A-bolt in the end, lots more after market stocks and gadgets available for it. Plus a switch barrel 25 WSSM / 35WSSM would be seeexxxxxyyyyy! FWIW, Dutch.

The SBS is an interesting rifle. I have a couple and their story always seems to go the same...I take them to the range. People look at them and are somewhat turned off by their appearance. Then I talk them into shooting the rifle(s). Instant converts almost every time. They are comfortable to shoot. They are accurate. Their plastic magazines work reliably and aren't easily broken. The rifles don't cost a heck of a lot. After the bolt has been cycled a couple-hundred times, it becomes very smooth to operate. Their scopes mount where you look right through the middle of them when you put the rifle to your shoulder.
If you have any doubts about one, try to get to shoot it before you decide to say "No'
