Fair price?
This past weekend at a local gunshow I met a gunsmith who had a new in the white Charles Daly action for $345. Is that fair, high or low? He said it was a commercial mauser action and he could pretty much build whatever i wanted on it.I'm thinkig something in the 30-40 cal. range. Thanks

Seems a bit high. Check gunbroker, they had a number of them for sale lately.

I am not sure why maybe the Remington deal in the works, but talking to my smith the cheap sources of these have dried up. He likes them (I am lukewarm at best), but just a week or so ago we were dicussing this.

He thinks its because the BATF hasn't approved any form 6's in months. If anybody has noticed the prices on SKS's have skyrocketed also and all the distributors are out of the cheap ones. There are a list of importered firearms that are not available wholesale right now.

One thing is for certain there is not just one model or firearm that is overvalued or in short supply right now.
