TGetzenFrom some sources I've come across, this means Eddystone. At least one source I found recently, I can't recall where, suggested this may also be E. Remington Arms Co.
But I think it's Eddystone -- I have one marked like that, and a second marked RE which is Remington.

<JBelk>I thought it was Enfield Royal Armory, making it a P-14 instead of P-17, but military markings aren't my strong suit.

T.Carr45 nut,
Do a search on Google for "Eddystone P14".
It appears to stand for "Eddystone Remington Armory".
