Mauser Feed Problem with Lapua 6.5x55 Brass...?
I didn't expect this problem.

This is the second 6.5x55 I've built on an Interarms MK X, and the first one fed smoothly.

The situation, as far as we can diagnose it, is that the case head is reluctant to fit beneath the extractor blade.

I'm using Lapua brass, which is, of course, the correct size for 6.5x55, which is to say a little larger than the standard case head.

But the case head will fit on the bolt face.

In the event, the bolt face will pick up the case, and, as the bolt moves forward, the bullet enters the chamber, but at that point where the cartridge should level out, sliding beneath the extractor, it jams.

When out of the receiver, in order for the case head to fit beneath the extractor on the bolt face, the extractor must flex to the periphery. Is this normal?

My suspicion is that the appropriate treatment is to enlarge the radius on the extractor claw slightly?

Is there a way to determine if this is necessary?

TIA,

The jam determin that opening of the radius on the extractor claw is necessary.
This is a very common thing.
The extractor was made for a smaller case, simple as that, and need to be opened up.
