Model 70 Extractor
Have heard that there are a couple companies that are making spring steel extractors (pre-64 type)for the new Model 70's to replace the cast factory extractor.. Just wondered who makes them and how much they cost Plus how difficult it is to replace one..

Thank You!!!!

Jim Wisner should be checking in soon. He makes them......and prices them.

Take the bolt out with the safety in the mid position. Depress the shroud lock and turn out the shroud and firing pin. Hold the bolt pointing away in your right hand with the extractor on top, over the right locking lug, and the handle pointing over your left shoulder.

Press down on the extractor behind the ring. That will lift the front of the extractor some and the extractor can be forced to rotate a little further to the right and out of it's "foot groove". Now just push the extractor forward and off the front. Spread the ring with your thumbs and push it off the bolt.

Be sure to REALLY look at the gas shield that fits under the extractor ring on the opposite side. If you understand *how* it works, it's easy to see how to reinstall it.

I bought a couple from Wisners for two of my current production M70 Classics for $57.95 each. They are made very nice, but they were not drop in replacements. I had to take my bolts and new extractors to my gunsmith to get them fitted properly. The collar was too tight with the new extractors and it would not rotate around the bolt easily. Made the bolt operation very stiff. The slot where the collar clips into the extractor was too narrow.

Here's thier web page.

We will be offering a drop-in replacement in both steel and stainless in the very near future. Retail price will be $36.00. If you have an FFL there will be a substantial price reduction. When we are in full production, we will post the info on this forum, as well as our own website.

Mr. Williams,

Will you be making these for left-hand actions as well?

Regards, Wayne E.

We will, but it will be a little longer down the road. I know that's not exactly the thing you like to hear, but unfortunately, demand must determine product. Fortunately, there is very little difference between the two, and the fixturing will be universal, so we won't be too far behind with them.
