Help needed in finding a synthetic stock with a full length alloy bedding plate for winchester sporter magnum in 264. the one I was looking at was the bell and carlsson medallist which they don't do in long action. any suggestions would be appreciated.

check out Bordon Rimrock and McMillan. Both are excellent synthetic stocks and are available for the M-70

The only long block I know of is Accuracy Inovations. I have a lot of plastic experience with the .264 going back to when only Brown Precision marketed blanks. I have had two Winchester factory barrels and rebarrelled one with a 11 twist Krieger for 120 ballistic tips.

I like to bed my own in Marine Tex in the bearing areas and Brownell's Acurglass Gel in non bearing areas. I like to eliminate the floor plate and go blind box to get the weight down and add rigidity. My last two stocks have been MPI, including a 13 oz model. I am orderring today a Bell & Carlson Thumbhole with a short block for a Montana 1999 action (M70 Clone) and longer pull. It will be a 300 RUM.

I would be excitied about the Barnes TSX 120 boattail in this caliber. I would suspect Reloader 22 or VV-N560 to give fantastic results. 3400 fps, maybe 3450, in 26 inches and great accuracy. Another powder to try would be Magnum from Ramshot. I think R-25 or Retumbo would be too slow for these reduced shank surface bullets.

Griff, check out H.S. Precision. They have the aluminum bedding block and are available for a long action. Or at least they were the last time I looked.

what appears to be the problem is that they are saying the 264 winmag is a magnum sporter therefore it requires a reinforced recoil lug area.... otherwise most la stocks would fit.
so if anyone has a synthetic stock for any of the winmags let me know..

I'm both very interested and somewhat confused by this section of your post...First, I need a good relatively inexpensive stock for my M1999 Montana short action. Are you saying B&C makes such a stock? (Gee, I sure hope so)...Second, You mention a "short block", but for a .300 RUM. Is there a difference between a "short block" and a short action? If not, will a .300 RUM work in a short action?

I had a HS precision on a 7mmRem Mag with the alum bedding block. They make these stocks for all sorts of magnums.They do make them for the Win Mod 70. They are a good stock. Mine was a thumbhole stock. I have another Short action HS stock. They hold their zero.

I have a H-S Precision stock on a post-64 Model 70 XTR in .300 H&H. The stock has the aluminum bedding block and was a perfect drop-in fit. I also have the Rimrock stock on several of my custom rifles and highly recommend them.
