<Spike>Lothar Walther barrels?
I'm thinking of getting a couple LW barrels, anyone know the price on a contoured blank and does the chambering require special reamers? Any other info greatly appreciated, their website isn't much help.

<JBelk>Spike---
I'd strongly suggest you call Woody at Lothar-Walter and ask him. The prices vary by many factors, not all of which is known by the people that USE them, but should be common knowledge the one that *makes* them.
Special reamers?? I'm not sure what you're asking. You need a finish reamer for the caliber you're barreling, a lathe, and, most of all, the knowledge it takes to run both properly.
The website gives the phone number.....what else do you want??

<Big Stick>I think "special" reamers denotes a query in regards to the LW's metallurgy,if'n I had to guess..............

OldFartI just ordered a 24 inch, heavy sporter, Stainless steel barrel in a 308, cut long, with the crowning done. It came to almost $300. This is my first LW barrel, and I ordered it solely from the recommendations of this forum. I hope they're right.
No special reamer are needed for the LW-50 steel.
You will however have better luck using different feeds, speeds and chambering oil when working on the LW-50 barrels.
old Fart,
If the action is true and the barrel is installed right, you will certainly be happy with your Lothar Walther LW-50 barrel. Thet are my first choice in barrels.
Here is a link to just a few of the test targets from rifles with Walther barrels. These rifles range from light weight sporters to heavy "tactical" rigs.
