AglifterNeat Winchester M. 70 project gun at Bass Pro in San Antonio
If anyone's looking for a nice project rifle, there's a really nice Winchester in 243 dating from 1937 (according to Bass Pro) -- beautiful checkering, ivory accents, nice wood, buttery action. Unfortunately, Somebody did a redneck gunsmith job of "fixing" and bedding the stock -- you can see the bedding compound, etc. It also has a bull barrel on it, for some reason...it's listed at $1400.
I'm pretty tempted, if it could be rechambered to 308, but I really don't know enough to know what I might be getting into.
