Post some pictures when you finish it, sounds interesting.

Just wondered if anybody has done this themselves. I was thinking it might be a good summer project, and it would add to the looks of the No.1 quite a bit (I think).

I don't mind the Alex Henry forend though, but this would look better.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

You're right about the cold. It's driving me crazy. I should be doing these little projects now--no heated workshop though.
Haven't fished superior much. I'm more of a musky fisherman.
--I don't know when you were a toddler, but we have people surfing the great lake now. I'll probably give it a try this summer when school's out but that lake is still cold even then!

It takes about 20 minutes to glue it on, another 20 to shape it once the epoxy sets up, then cut the barrel channel and then a few days to get it finished. Finishing is hardly the word. Ebony does not take finish well and basically what you do is polish it to a nice sheen. I usually end up going to 1200 or 1500 grit on the grip cap. So with all that time you will be able to run uplake and catch a few fish. Lived in Duluth when I was a toddler, even then I remember it was cold.
