djpepperI'd like to find out if I could get another bolt from Sako before I try it. I've looked at all the pictures in the brocure and the g&a article and can't see anything really that difficult (other than the Murphy aspect). I like the shorter bolt lift, the fixed mechanical ejector and have good luck with another in 7mm-08.
Off topic Wally, what info do you have on the 2.5" Ultra mag? I thought about this while looking over the Dakota stuff, figured you could leave the bolt face at standard mag and use shortened ultra brass (although, I pretty sure a 7 rem mag will do all I need doing!)

djpepperChecked with Accuflite, they haven't done it, but thought it was interesting. Emailed Sako, but I won't be holding my breath waiting for a reply. I'd go ahead, but would like a replacement bolt if it all went pear-shape. Should have learned to be a machinist, then I could screw up guns in the privacy of my own shop!

So far I've done two of them, 7 and 6.5 cal. Both customers (friends of eachother) had STWs but wanted to seat bullets longer than allowed by their Model 70 magazines and actions.
Convinced them of the benefits of the RUM case shortened to 2.650 would do the same thing.
