extractor too tight?

Do the rounds come out of the mag smoothly? If not, that causes binding because of the angle of the cartridge. And you might need a little bevel on the lower inside of the claw to allow for that angle.

Thanks for the reply.
The cartridges don't hang up badly, but they do a little, the smith was supposed to open the rails, but obviously didn't. I have the measurement what it's supposed to be, so I could do it myself, I guess.
The extractor is tight on the bolt and the cartridge, hence my original question. It appears there isn't enough room for the case head to simply slip under the extractor.
Anyway, maybe I should send it back and have him do it correctly.
I'm not having much luck with 3 out of 4 of these CZ 550's I bought. 2 have been converted from 458WM to 416 Rigby and 404 Jeffrey, both are having feed issues, and my other factory chambered 458 lott will not feed from the mag, the bullets hang up at the feed ramp.
The only one that feeds flawlessly is my custom shop built 505 Gibbs, feeds like butter.

Two components (at least) for a CRF to feed; one is for the rounds to come up out of the mag at the right time; usually at an angle when the forward 1/4 or so enters the chamber. Second is that the rim has to fit up behind the extractor. Test and fit these two components of the process, separately; don't try to troubleshoot both at the same time because you don't know which it is. So, remove the extractor and see how that works. But if they are really tight with the bolt out of the rifle, that might be it. If it is, just file or stone, (belt sander for me) the claw but don't go too far. Don't lose the hook shape.

Thanks DPCD, I will open the action rails first to the correct dimensions, see if it feeds any smoother, then tackle the extractor issue.
Wish I could send this rifle to you to get feeding correctly. Unfortunately, this can't happen.

Before you do anything, check the face of the top portions of the extractor for wear or roughness that may show metal to metal contact when the bolt is worked, it may just be binding there and you can fix that in 5 min. on a sanding belt or by hand...It happens a lot and is treated improperly, adding unnecessary costs in most cases. Ihave had that happen more than a few times over the years when changing extractors on Mausers and mod. 70s.
