Tikka scope mount problems
I have several Tikka rifles. The heavy ones, 338 WM, 30.06 both have problems with the rear scope mount moving forward after several rounds. what to do? The rear mounts are not anchored like the front mounts. Are there any mounts (other than Tikka) that WIIL NOT MOVE? Any other suggestions? The rifles are an M65 and a 695.
Thanks, Peter.

If those have the flat top and screw holes already drilled, look at Talley lightweight...no they aren't necessarily gorgeous but they work. My brother has them on his Tikka. He machined them to sit lower and they work well...

good luck!

With Weaver and other clamp-on type mounts, I tap the ring mounts as far forward as I can before tightening them down. I even apply forward pressure as I tighten. This all but eliminates forward slippage.

Always slide your mounts forward then tighten.

This is why I sold my Tikka, no more problem

My Tikka's are way too accurate to sell, and they are nice looking rifles to boot. In any case I have decided to bite the bullet and buy Warne (Tikka) rings and Warne (Weaver) bases and the Warne rings for the 300Wm or the 338Mag. The extra height added by the bases will (hopefully) allow me to mount the 56mm objective scope that I would like to use, but has been gathering dust!
Thanks for all the suggestions, Peter.
