Lyman Alaskan Scope
Is there a company out there that will repair an old Lyman Alaskan scope.
I have one with a broke stadia wire. Post is still accurate but I's like to have the crosswire repaired.
Thanks for the info

Thanks for the great news. I was afraid this old scope was doomed.
I am calling them in the morning.

Senor Parson does great work. He is THE person to go to for repairing Unertls too, IMHO.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Hello Guys - Not to hijack the thread (although that is what I'm doing . . . ??) but where did the Lyman All American fit in the model line-up in terms of quality (compared with other makers offerings of the same era). Is it possible that the folks at Parsons might be able to change the reticule ?

Roughly when might it have been made ?

I have been offered a 4x and was considering it for a 1925 rifle I am working with - not that it needs a 1925 scope but 1950's or 60's would be good !!

Cheers

Foster, IMO Lymans are generally extremely good scopes, almost as good as Unertl and very close to Leupold in clarity and general quality. Your 4x All-American with 1" tube is maybe a little heavier than some others but if in good condition its quality should be outstanding. IIRC the Perma-Center ones were made in the very late '50s and later, the non-centered ones were made earlier. If it's the 7/8" tube Alaskan then it's a late-model (1990s?) copy made by Leupold and of course it's a good one also.
Best, Joe

The original Lyman 7/8" Alaskan was started in the 1930's through '40's & '50's, maybe even into 1960's. They were available with or without internal adjustments. I've used a lot of these. G & H sold a lot of side mounts for these. You could mount them low and the Alaskan has a long eye relief, but now the world want 9X even if they are only shooting 100 yds. or even more power. Beats me, I don't see it.
