500grainsBut you need a new magazine box. And no one makes one. So...

blaser93I am thinking about building one. Where would I get the box magazine. I have the action and a couple of pieces of circassion wood.

Frank MartinezIf you cannot find a gunsmith to make one for you, take your old box to a machine shop and have them make one from similar materials. I had one made for a 458 Lott that cost $160 but is more solidly constructed than anything I have seen in a factory rifle. It dropped right in to the action and has held up under some horrendous recoil.
Good luck

Unfortunately no one makes mag boxes for the .404 to sell. And the .404 mag box differs in dimensions and angles from a box for the .416, .375 or .458. However, there are gunsmiths who will build a custom .404 rifle. But it is expensive. I doubt they will sell you just a mag box, because then someone will still need to get it to feed, and that's not a task for just any gunsmith.
