340WbyPre-64 bottom metal replacement
I need some help men.
The original alloy bottom-metal on my 1959 Pre-64 308Win is looking all of it's 50 years. So I think it's time I looked at a new trigger-guard/floor-plate, preferably steel this time.
I see this company does a "Bow Release system" in steel, which is a little different to the original. Maybe a better design?
http://gunloads.com/clients/william/store/product_info.php?products_id=100"M70 Pre-64 One-Piece Assembly"
Would this bottom-metal work with my Pre-64 designed for a short-action?
Any other options out there?
Thanks in advance

M PursellThe Williams assembly will fit on your rifle. There are no "short action" pre 64 model 70s. The bottom metal was the same for everything from 22 Hornet to 375H&H.
Sunny Hill and Blackburn make nice ones but they cost considerably more than the Williams.

22WRFUnless they have it in stock you will wait a considerable amount of time for a Blackburn Unit.

James C ScottI have one of the Williams units. They are extremely well made. You won't be disappointed.

M PursellI didn't mean to imply that the Williams unit wasn't as good as the others I mentioned, just less expensive. I have an action with a bad trigger guard and I plan to buy the Williams myself when I get around to doing something with it. I like the looks of the straddle floorplate that Williams is now using.
