RoddyNeed help inquire within.
My local shop has a .308 1 1/2 a short version of the 308. It is on a Remington action 722 I think, it is in a 40x stock all above in average conditon. The best part of it is the barrel a Hart 24" SS this was used to shoot cast bullet competion I was told. It comes with dies and brass and he wants $380.
I would have the receiver coated with Gun Kote ar something like it and have the stock painted.
Whadda Yall Think.
Yea or nea.
Is it too much of a project or do I have it chambered to a regular .308 or something else. I think he will re-chamber for $60 or so.

<t_bob38>What is the rifling twist rate? Knowing that may help you decide.

Paul HSince it is an oddball round, you have the advantage as a prospective purchaser, ie not many folks will be interested. I wouldn't be suprised if you couldn't talk him down to $350.
If it was used for cast bullet shooting, then there should be very little wear on the barrel.
The big question is, what do you want it for? For a target gun, I'd leave it as is. You already have the brass and dies, which is the costly part if you ever wanted to build such a beast.
If you have it re-chambered, then you can sell the brass and dies. I'd actually be interested in the dies if you get the gun and have it re-chambered.
