Measuring the front sight height
I want to replace my front sight on my 1970 Winchester M94 30-30 for a "fiber optic" style. There is many different heights and the guy at the gun store was not sure how to measure the front sight. He just said to pop out the front sight off and bring it in. I can do this but I rather not to pop the sight off until I have a replacement in my hand.

Is the height the distance from the very top to the very bottom of the sight (including the dovetail that pushes into the barrel)?

Yes. For your particular needs, the sight is the piece that slides into the barrels dovetail. They want to know what it measures from it's top to it's bottom.

Thanks.

Would you guys pick red or green for a Truglo front sight? I'm leaning towards red.
