More Work-In-Progress Pics, Brno ZKK 223
I am remodeling this Brno ZKK-601 223Rem.

It started out as a "deluxe" version (Weatherby-type stock, bent back bolt handle). I reshaped the factory stock to classic-style, glass bedded the barreled action to hide the poor factory inletting, added a 90 degree ebony forend tip, silver oval medallion where the bottom sling stud was, Fisher steel grip cap, solid butt pad and welded up the hole in the bolt knob and straightened it.

My gunsmith friend will checker the stock and blue the grip cap (he did the welding and bending on the bolt knob too).

This kind of project doesn't compare with the work of Bill S., Chic, Jeffe, Tom B. or the other pros on this forum, but it is something most amateurs like me can do, doesn't cost much and vastly improved the appearance of this factory rifle.

The bottom rifle in the top pic is the "before" pic, the others are "after":

Very nice. If I may inquire, is the ZKK 601 a shorter action than the 602? It is a 308 length or even shorter? Was it chambered from the factory in .223?

Thanks,

Jordan

Rembo, that is a very good price for your action. I would buy it except for the difficulty of importing. I have a friend who will sell his ZKK 223, he wants $550US.

Thanks gentlemen. Jordan, the ZKKs (made from about 1964-1986 by CZ) came in 3 action lengths. The 601s were the shortest, available in 223, 243 & 308. The 600s were 270, 30-06 length and the 602s were full magnum size.

Fla,
what a fantastic, classic looking stock came out of the semi monticarlo!!!

Please, though, your work looks better than mine.. I am no where near good enough to placed in the same paragragh as chic and the others... much less with them.

Nice looking rifle.. bet that would be one HELL of a turkey/rabbit/fox gun!!!
