Snider700great looking gun roy. how does it shoot?
SCW....Interesting that you say that, my next most favorite rifle is a Winchester Model 70 Classic Featherweight in 6.5X55! I have a 6.5 Lilja barrel I could chamber in Sweed and have a switch barrel. I also built a sporter on a M38 action.

SevensMine would be MEG, My Elephant Gun, a 375 H&H. All I have to do is figure out which action to use. Nice rifle, great caliber choice. I have always wanted a 257. Enjoy.

ClarkRoy,
How do you get so much hobby stuff done?
My life parallels yours, but at a lower level or output.
I built 257RAI a year ago.
If I only had one rifle, that would be it.

Here's what I did.........retired from a very hectic, flying all over the country, executive VP position that I held for 25 years at the age of 50. Opened a small breakfast/lunch restaurant here in the village I live
Padanaram Village Cafe that closes at 2pm.......I don't work Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. And I have lots of time to play. Don't have the income or the lifestyle I used to have, but I'm a lot happier and the stress level is WAY WAY down....
BTW, Clark, what loads are you using for your 257RAi? Any suggestions for my upcomming Caribou hunt?
I like it but my one gun would be a cz 550 in .375 H&H with leupold scopes in 2x compact, 1-4 & 1.75-6 in warne QD's both set up for different loads from 235 gr speers (spotlighting etc.) to 270 gr woodleigh's for the 1-4 scope and 350 gr woodleigh's for the 2x comapct and heaviver style game. It woould wear a McMillan stock.
Thank god I have more than one rifle however

ClarkAt 52 I have withdrawn from the rat race of 60 hour weeks consulting engineering and I am now a part time handi man.
But without deadlines, even my hobbies move slowly.
I have only done a few minutes of 257RAI load work. The gun just wants to shoot with anything, but those .8" average groups come down to .5" if there is attention to seating depth.

WstrnhuntrNice gun, but If I could only own one it would wear wood.
My 257 AI seems to like IMR 4350 with 115 grain bullets but there are still a lot of powders I havent tried yet. Fabulous chambering! My next Mauser bbl will probably be a 7X57.

Ray, AlaskaNice rifle, but for Alaska (where I live), the favorite is the .338WM, or a .30-06, or a .300WM. Why? Because where caribou roam, so do grizzly bears.
