SPANISH DESTROYER MILITARY & POLICE CARBINE
(Late Version)
CAL. 9mm Bayard

Who imports this bolt rifle?

Who manufacturers it? Is it known to be a reliable action? I know it is not a very strong action, because it fires only a pistol round (9mm Bergmann-Bayard or 9x23mm Largo, or 9mm Bayard Long, and firing the 9x23mm Winchester Magnum might blow it up.

two rear lugs, ejects from top, cock on close.

the ones I have seen are well made, I own two that are somewhat worse for the wear.

could be rebarreled to .30 Mauser, the case is the same, IIRC.

Thanks, Tin Can. The action looks like a good place to start on a 77/44 sporter, or maybe even 45ACP. Is this action still in production anyplace, or does some Importer still handle them in any quantity?

Just wonder why I don’t see the Destroyer used in any custom builds…

the gun shows were lousy with them about 15 years ago; I think *maybe* Century imported at least some of them.

I don't believe they've been manufactured for many years- I'm no expert on the subject.

they are a cool little rifle, the mags for Mauser broomhandles fit them, I recall seeing some "high capacity" mags like these for sale maybe 10 years ago.

a fantasy of mine: destroyer rebarreled to .30 Mauser, scout scope, maybe even a .30 Mauser/.22 wildcat (if such a thing is plausible).

here's one in use during the Spanish Civil War:
