Trigger adjustment screw is stuck!
Engagement screw on Rem 700 trigger is STUCK. It won't budge. I'm afraid I'll strip the slot off of the screw. Any advice for breaking it free?

Thanks,

First off, make sure any locknut(s) are loose. Then I'd try letting a little Kroil soak in for about a day or two and try it again. That stuff has worked well for me on all types of stuck fasteners, and is supposed to penetrate a 6 millionth of an inch gap. If that doesn't work, you may need a little heat to break it loose?

Just my $.02. Hope it helps and good luck,

Bill

Did you try to back it out without removing the lacquer sealant that is used to make them tamper and vibration proof. You may have a piece of the lacquer in the last thread. If that is the case try to screw in the screw and use a sharp pick to clean out the thread. If not the case, follow the other thread and use Kroil and soak for a while.

Finally got it to back out. It took considerable force and a propane torch to get it out though.

Glad to hear it, good job Sawblade!

Thanks for letting us know, I was going to recommend a bigger hammer if you hadn't had any luck yet [Big Grin]
