I have heard of two people being killed driving out loaded rounds with a cleaning rod.

LISTEN very CAREFULLY to Jim Kobe, Do not drive a loaded round out of a barrel, that is highly dangerous stuff and show a lack of knowledge...Take the gun to a gunsmith, have him remove it...

in my guns it when I pull the bolt back it pulls the case off the bullet, clean out the powder and then your just dealing with a bullet stuck in the lands right?

Hey guys, I think this guy is talking about a loaded round stuck in the chamber. DON'T try to drive it out with a rod. Remember all the stories about the ones that detonated?

Is this a loaded round that is improperly chambered so as not to be able to be fired? I assume you can't fire it and then worry with the brass.

when I get a stuck bullet I take a brass rod that I bought at a hardware store and tap it out. I took my dremel tool and ground out an inverse cone on the tip to hold the bullet centered and keep the sides off of the bore but it shouldnt matter too much because the brass is fairly soft but still plenty stiff enough to tap all but the most stuck bullets. I have used it on my 243, 7mm and 338 with equal success. I have also gotten bullets stuck like half way through the bore and blown them out with a blank loaded with some blue dot, the amount depends on the caliber. Be careful with that though, some wouldnt recommend it but its not much different than loading into the lands fairly tight and you have a larger compression chamber also, anyway it worked for me on several occasions.

Sometimes jacketed bullets stuck in the bore can get wedged in much harder by pushing directly on them with a rod.

A tight fitting piston that screws onto the end of a cleaning rod and a couple inches of motor oil between the rod and the bullet will drive the bullet out with hydraulic pressure when the rod is struck.

Lead bullets, I just start hitting with the rod.

What does a gunsmith do for a chambered round that is stuck? For whatever reason, this particular round chambered fine, but when I went to eject it the round would not come out. I went through ALL the normal steps of checking seating depth, etc. It is a brand new Lilja barrel on a 270. It is unfired and the bullet is seated very deep already. I've never had this happen before. The guy that built it must have a super tight reamer or something. I ever so gently tried a cleaning rod with no benefit.
