G33/40 bottom metal & safety recommendations

I am gathering components for a future G33/40 project. Can anyone recommend quality bottom metal and a 3 position safety for this gem of a mauser?

fyj, you know,I looked at those and thought it was a great idea but I then picked up a pre-64 and tried to imagine using it on the other side and it seemed just plain awkward to me. I'm sure some would find it just right but for this redneck homboy, I'll keep mine on the right side.

hardin, when ya get that list of parts all figured out send me a copy, it will make my project much easier, I'm lazy

I feel the same way jimmy. i guess I could get used to it, but at my age Iâ€™m beyond re-training my instincts.

Probably around $310+ shipping. Maggie emailed awhile ago and said somebody canceled an order and had one for me. I was lucky I think.

I think the price depends if you get the bottom metal polished or not from Blackburn. If the smith your going to use to do the metal work is going to do a polish job I would probably go with the stage 1 unpolished bottom metal.

I don't have any current photos of Blackburn bottom metal and LaPour Safety, but I do have a photo of a Blackburn Trigger and a HalfMoon bolt handle. This particular HalfMoon is the large one. They can be ordered in medium and small as well. I suppose it depends on how big your hands are and the size of the action you are working with.

Damn, I love this sight!

Thanks for the pics. What is the advantage of the blackburn trigger over, say, a Timney. Does it sit farther back in the trigger bow like it should?

Others may be more of an expert in triggers than I am, but in my experience there isn't a major difference in how well a timney works as compared to a blackburn. But I would definitely say that the Blackburn seems more well made. It is an all steel trigger, as opposed to Aluminum on the Timneys. And the Blackburn adjustments are very precise.

Not meanng to go off topic, but at the Guild show I saw a really neat 33/40 done with a blind mag., and a case colored trigger guard. In general I don't like blind mags. but this one was wonderful.

It was at Lee Hegiland(Spelling?) table very impressive, feather weight with balance.
