I'm building a .338-06 on a mauser action and I would appreciate some input on what twist and bbl length worked for some of you guys. I tend to like my rifles on the short side, so I want the barrel to be as short as possible and still get reasonable velocity.

I think a 22" would be quite suitable with a 1-10 twist.

My .338-06 wears a 22 1/2", 1-10 bbl. (just to be different) & gets 2750fps w/ the 210gr NP. I think the cartridge is pretty efficient, but wouldn't want less than a 22" bbl.
