ZirconRechamber .308 to 300 WSM?
Does anyone know if a 300 WSM reamer will clean up a .308 chamber? Nosler 5th edition shows the .308 neck at .344 and the 300 WSM neck at .340 (.30-06 neck size.) This would appear to be the only .308 dimension that wouldn't clean up, but it doesn't make sense. I would have expected this to be a popular conversion and the 300 WSM chamber to be the same or larger in all dimensions.
Thanks.

p.s., I should add: without setting the barrel back.

rduncanI would suspect not as popular as you might think. I can't find the actual case dimensions, but I *assume* the WSM uses the magnum sized bolt face, whereas the .308 uses the .473" diameter bolt face. The .308/.30-06 bolt face family would have to be opened up to the magnum (.5++") size. Easier if you own a Savage.

ZirconYep, the base diameter is 0.535" so the bolt face needs to be opened up. That and adjusting the extractor is the easy part.

LoneEagleThen comes the fun of trying to make it feed. Sean

ZirconWell, in the interest of complete disclosure, this conversion will be for a gas gun. I have an AR10-(T). Parts that will need attention include the chamber, the bolt face, the extractor, the magazine follower and lips, the location of the gas block (needs to be set out farther to reduce the gas pressure), and probably some other stuff I'm not aware of at this moment.

LoneEagleI just read an article in PS about a fellow that was going to start building AR-10 in the WSMs. If I can find it I'll post contact info. Sean
