LorenSRinging Barrel
Has anyone had a barrel that rings like a bell after firing? I just put a .260 Rem Adams & Bennett barrel on my Savage 110 and on some shots I can hear a ringing sound afterwards. I suspect the barrel, but I suppose it could have been something nearby.

DigitalDanDoubles do that often, never heard that about a single barrel gun though.

Glen71Are you sure it's not your ears ringing?

My 6mm Rem 700 has a slight ring to it.
The best description would be a tuning fork.

rootbeerMaybe your barrel is made of the same type of steel that was used for the huge naval guns on the Bismarck. I don't know how to spell the word in German, but it was called "special steel" and was of the purest, strongest alloy. It was so fine a steel that it was salvaged by the US after the Bismarck was sunk in order to learn of its composition. However, I could be wrong and your barrel may be of the exact length and diameter to produce a tone when that exact round is fired through it.

redialAre you shooting under an overhang by chance? One with round steel pipes as uprights?
I've belonged to a couple clubs whose overhangs would "ring" after a rifle shot.
Just a guess
