Stiff and cracked leather
This is from a famous gunsmithing book:

"Shoot a couple of squirrels or other small animals and put their brains in a cheese cloth bag ; stir this in the water and squeeze out the brains until the mixture is milky. As soon as the leather begins to soften, work it gently in the hands, always under water, until soft and pliable."

Guess which one...

Brains have always worked to soften/tan leather.

But they have to be real brains.

Brains at or above the IQ of a squirrel please. Otherwise they will not work.

But can stiff and cracked brains cure stiff and cracked leather?

This may be an unaddressed market niche.

Biden and brains are two words should not be used together to describe anything more than a black hole.

As for the OP, I would say either Townsend Whelen or Elmer. Just a couple wild guesses. Confused

Sounds like something that would be in Clyde Bakers Modern Gunsmithing from 1933 although I have not read it in quite a while.

Bear grease is yet another leather restorative.
Do NOT bend or twist the leather until the grease has had a chance to work it's magic!

Squirrel brains likely easier to find and obtain!

I would recommend a trip to the nearest saddle shop, brains draw flys and vultures as they cure!

I noticed that at Bidens last appearance on TV.

What, you mean most guys don't have any bear grease on hand? I always do. Smiler

Brains are brains...indians have been brain tanning stuff for centuries and I think (but I could be wrong) you can pretty much use any brains for the process. The old time directions claim that every animals brains are enough for the tanning process of that particular animal.

Most of brain matter is complex long chain fatty acids. Any long chain fat will work, it’s just availability.

So bear, moose, duck, brain, or something like leather conditioner…

And the winner is - gasgunner.

Clyde Baker, 1933 second edition. My Kindle ran out of batts and it was in the nightstand. One of the most 'out there' books I've ever read. I mean we all have improvised a peep sight with a twisted bit of copper wire soldered to the bridge, right?

Personally, I use rendered moose leaf lard. Also for machining but mixed with Mystic Metal Mover. Plenty of red tree squirrels around but...

When it gets to the point of cracking, its time to toss it Maybe use it to make a pattern. all you get is a greasy nasty piece of worn out leather..

but if you must then old fashioned neats foot leather penetrates best according to all the saddle makers I know..

You have two problems with brandons brains. First, it is smaller than a squirrels so it might not be large enough to complete the task. Second, will be getting them as brandon's head is so far up his ass that it may be impossible to remove.
