Proper Mauser Bolt Welding
Recently there was a discussion about welding the bolt handle on a Mauser so that the receiver isn't notched or the receiver is milled with a square notch and the underside of the bolt/weld is refined with a mill cut.

If anyone could post a clear sharp pic so that I could show my gunsmith, I'm sure both of us would appreciate it! See, he's great with the tig but it's what he does after the weld that I feel could be alot better...

Yes, I'd like to see the pictures, too.

I'll also show them to my gunsmith for bolt work on my soon to be 7.62 x 39 bolt action.

Somehow the smith needing pics of what to do would make me question his abilities Confused

I like to have pics to show the smith what I want the finished product to look like. That way there is no confusion about the specifics of a project.

It isnt meant to question the smiths abilities, but to define exactly what is wanted.

I'll second that! I like the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words..."

My smith isn't the greatest, but he's close and inexpensive. He grinds on the bolt with a die grinder and it turns out too flat on the face- just his style- I don't care for it...

We'll see what Concho has for us...
