Raptor Rifles ?
A rifle came up for sale on Guns America called a Raptor ,it looked like a Remington 700 but was very cheap ! I thought the action might be good for a rebarrel project BUT I can't find the listing again nor any place to locate a dealer or the company. Can any one help me out with this ?

I bought one of the Raptors for a fundraising banquet a few years ago. It was so bad that I would have been afraid to fire it. It was the roughest most poorly made gun I have ever seen.

The sad thing is Jim Carmichel (Outdoor Life) gave it some kind of gun of the year award a few years back. Can you say kickback?
Anyway the gun looks like junk and I think there out of business

It is an 'entry level' rifle like the Remington 710. Charter 2000 (formerly Charter Arms) bought the company that made Raptor rifles.

If you want an inexpensive rile that will shoot, get a Savage.

i believe it's the COLT raptor. It's their ultralight arms (company of the same name). It is a mauser derivative, so please don't think it's a remington style action.
It's meant to be a mountain gun. *I* think the barrel is far to light... but, then again, it's THE cheapest way to get a sub 7# mauser rifle.

quality? come on, it's a colt product. It can be great, but not aweful.

No, Colt called their version of ULA's rifle the "Ultralight". The Raptor was a low budget, 700 type, basic rifle. - Dan

Talking about Jim Carmichel, about 25yrs. ago He gave a thumbs up to a jap import 3X9 brought into this country by Lyman. Now I presonal think the fixed power Lymans are a very good scope--as good as most of todays top scopes. Anyway I bought one after reading his line on them. It cost me $1 less then a 3X9 Leupold, what a piece of junk. Thought maybe I got a lemon, a friend bought one with out knowing of my problems. Another piece of jusk. So much for Mr. Carmichel's lip service.
