matt salmOld Brownell's catalog
A neighbor stopped by last night while I was working in my shop with some old magazines for me. One of them was a Brownell's catalog #18 from 1963. Wow was that interesting to page through. FN Supreme actions for $62, Supreme barreled actions for $103.50. Ruger super blackhawks for $116 and Single six's for $69.
Pretty fun read.

tnekkccI bought a 1963 shooter's bible when I was 12 years old.
When I go to gun shows, I see the guns in there have become more valuable over the last 45 years.
Most guns have appreciated at 3% compounded.
Colt single action Army is much better and bolt action shot guns are much worse, but most guns are ~3%.
That 3% figure is about to go up.
Greenspan had the prime rate too low for too long, and the M3 expanded faster than the economy. We are about to go into a recession with high unemployment and high inflation.
If you buy guns now, when we finish the coming period of austerity, they will have served you well.
