I have an old aimpoint 2000 mounted in the standard position to a sporting SMLE 111.Believe it or not sometimes fired cases,when ejected vigorously,end up lying in the action facing BACKWARD.Any ideas?

maybe the case is hitting the aimpoint and falling doen like that. That's what I'd look for.

The case is hitting the aimpoint. If the problem only occurs when you vigorously operate the bolt, then DON'T operate the bolt in such a vigorous manner. Or, find a gunsmith who knows what he's doing. Have him prove it by reciting the alphabet or some other simple test. Have him adjust the departure angle so the spent cases will fly a little lower. I don't have that particular gun on hand to look at, but I'm pretty sure it is doable with that model.

Don't SMLE's use the rear of the magazine as an ejector?

I haven't pulled any of my Lee-Enfields out in a while and looked at them, but best I remeber, none of them had a fixed ejector like a Mauser - they just caught the rim of the cartridge on the rear of the magazine and flung the spent cartridge out.

I'm not real sure how to resolve the ejection issue if the cartridges are hitting the scope mount. You might have to move the scope somehow.

No, they use a screw as an ejector. I had two in recently complaining about ejection problems. Seems both had the screw, I mean, Ejector missing. Both owners had been fooling with trying to mount a sidemount scope base and thought that screw would be a perfect place to start.
