CBNHNTR.300 Wby rebarrel
I have been given a Wby Mark 5 (Japan) in .300 Wby and am considering a rebarrel (do not need another .300) opening the floor for suggestions.
Looking to keep things simple.
Thanks,
Keeping it simple would be to rebarrel to a 340 since you don't want another 300. You can go smaller but the bolt travel is longer in the "full length cartridges".

airgun1375 H&H or Wby, 8mm Rem Mag, 416 Rem, 458 Lott. I hate to see longer actions wasting length!

.257 Weatherby, .270 Weatherby, 7mm Weatherby, or 7mm Remington Mag should fit with little or no problems.

N E 450 No2Either the 340 WBY or the 375 WBY would be my choice.
With the 375 WBY you can shoot 375 H&H's if necessary.

Dr. LouI am thinking the very same thing, but in addition to the 340 and 375 WBY, I am thinking about the 358 STA. Is the taper and other case dimensions close enough so that I wouldn't need to mess with the follower and feed rails. I want to simple screw a new barrel on to my M70 Classic Sporter in 300 WBY. Lou

airgun1Dr. Lou my list is drop-in fit conversions. I was not sure if a 340 Wby was based on the 300 Wby case or the 378 Wby case (not a drop-in).
If the 358 STA is based on a necked down 375 H&H it should be fine even if in "Improved", straighter walled case config such as the 300 Wby and 375 Wby.

Dr. LouAirgun, thanks for the info. I like the 340 and 375 WBY, but the 358 STA has always fascinated me. It's based on the 8mm Rem. Lou
