max overall length longer than breech opening in Sako 75 .375H&H
I was not sure where to post this, but I figured here was as good a place as any.

I made up a dunny round for my Sako 75H&H to set max COL for a load with 210gn X bullets, only to find that it was too long to be axtracted...

Is this common or is something going wrong here??

This is hearsay...not first hand experience!!!! I have the little brother 300H/H and it and your 375 need a real full length mag action which isn't made by many and my P64 Mod 70 had to have the rear bridge shortened and the front cut at the factory when they started chambering the long cartridges.....since the normal extraction is of fired cases and thus the bullet is gone it works fine....and some actions operated on this method.....unless you have a dud/misfire it wouldn't be a problem but for game that needs a 375 it could be a problem.....wish I had positive information but that is the best I can do from much reading and little contact with 375 except second hand via my 300.....maybe another board..the big bore section will have some 375 users....good luck and good shooting!!!

Express,

The Max COL of the .375 H&H is 3.6 inches. Are your cartridges longer than this? If you try to have the bullet just short of the lands the cases will be too long to fit in the magazine. Most H&H's have a lot of freebore.

If your SAKO is a H&H length action it should not have any problem extracting a case of that length.
