.300 H&H Project
I would like to build a .300 H&H bolt action rifle. Is is feasible to simply rebarrel a .300 Win (such as a Remington M700)? What is the best way to get this accomplished?

Yes, you can. All Remiington long actions (the .300WinMag being one of them) can be rebarreled to any of the H & H length cartridges. You will probably need to get the proper mag box and MIGHT need to alter the feed rails but I doubt it. Quite a simple conversion.

A most worthy cartridge no doubt, however, I question the expense of it. Given the high survival rate of model 70s and 720s in 300 H&H, why spend the money on building a 700 when a 720 can be had for about $400?

There a couple of 720s on gunbroker right now for around that.

Not to mention .300 H&H brass is REAL scarce most of the time.

Just curious as to why you would say that? I have owned a M70 XTR .300 H&H for better than 15 years with no problems only downside being it is a pushfeed but it's reliable and deadly accurate.

I think 22wrf has had a burr under his saddle for a while. He seems to want to pick fights a lot. the Winchester XTR in 300 H&H is a fine little rifle for someone that doesn't want to pay the price for a pre-64 model 70 or go to the expense of buying an action and getting it rebarrelled. This one is like new.

I think LB404 doesn't like me butting in on his sales without my having first hand information about what he is talking about anymore than I liked him butting in on my sale without first hand information about what I was talking about.

I wasn't talking about the quality of the gun, but rather the quality of the seller. I am not the one picking the fights. You and Mr. Kobe are.
