Synthetic stock quality
Hi
I am planning to go synthetic on some of my rifles. Most of all I want reliability and really don't care much for looks.
I'm on a real nasty low budget and have been looking at stocks from Corelite, Ramline and Bell&Carson. Could any of you please help me with some first-hand experience on these ?

M PursellBell&Carlson would be my choice. The other two are hollow, injection molded, similiar to Tupperware. They work just fine, but have a low fondle factor. B&C, on the other hand, are much better quality for not much more money.

Gringo Cazadorfor the money Hogue is hard to beat, I've bought them on sale at midsouth and midway for 89 bucks on sale. They do just fine. I have B&C's and others, but I like Hogue the best.
I recently used a Bell & Carlson Medalist stock with full length aluminum bedding on a custom .458WM Mauser project. It turned out great. I looked at a lot of synthetic stocks but liked the feel, looks, and construction of the B&C.
I didn't want a front swivel stud as the rifle had a barrel band swivel. I called B&C and they said no problem and they would make the stock for me at no additional charge. In addition, the B&C manager, Dusty, said that I could get the stock cheaper by ordering it through Cabela's Special Product department than by ordering it directly with them. Great customer service by B&C. They will also make a custom LOP, standard is 13 1/2", I believe. It took about 6 weeks as I recall.
Overall, very pleased with the product and service.
