John BartelsBrasso
People mention using JB paste, Iosso, and others to smooth out rifle bores. I've heard that Brasso shouldn't be used on brass, because it contains ammonia, and may weaken the brass (also heard many others disagree).
The question is, can it or can't it be used on a rifle bore? And if not, why not? It would seem to be able to remove the crap accumulated in a neglected barrel....but????

claybusterBlackstar barrels say in thier care instructions, not to run any bore cleaner containing ammonia through thier barrels. They also state not to run abasives through them such as brasso, and a bunch of other ones.Break through makes a decent non-ammonia bore cleaner. If you're in a hurry,,,,J+P paste is'nt that expensive, and a little jar goes a really long way.

Zero DriftBy all means do not get Brasso anywhere close to a gun. The abrasive in Brasso will embed in your barrel and will quickly turn your gun into a smooth bore. It has no use around guns!
