Bottom metal for a 96 Swede
Is there a source out there for hinged bottom metal for a 96 Swede. I looked on Blackburn's website and he didnt list any. But he does list several other Mausers such as the Peruvian, M24, Mexican, Kurz, and a "7x57 length" Will any of these interchange with the Swede? Are there any other makers offering bottom metal for a 96?

I would call and ask. The hole spacing is the same for the '96 and intermediate '98s so I bet they're adaptable.

I'm pretty sure Mex Mauser will fit the Swede.

Hole spacing isn't the only factor. You must also consider the position of the front wall. It may or may not line up with the feed ramp on the receiver.

The Yugo or FN intermediates work fine in the 96, but I'm not sure if Blackburn makes those boxes?

The M24 / M48 Yugo guards will fit onto the 96 /38 Swedes. The interior of the magazine is in the correct placement.

The Mexican guard will match up with the hole spacing but the front and rear of the box is in a slightly different in location. Also the front inside has a smaller raduis than the other guard.

The hole spacing on my Swede measeres 7 5/8 center to center and the front receiver ring measures 1 1/4".

I am glad toknow that there is bottom metal out there that will work.

What is the difference, sporting-wise, between using the original military '96 bottom metal and suitable military '98? Seems they need the same work to glamorize them.
